‘Beauty is more than skin deep’
Roots and bulbs are easily forgotten. I wanted
to carve the unseen flowers; the world below the soil
level with attention to what is hidden yet promotes
life and beauty… not only the beauty above ground
which is undeniably more beautiful. The bulb
stores the energy and wisdom from the past that enables
unique growth of such splendid blossoms. The
heart shape signifies the result of the work that has
gone unnoticed, filling with water when it rains; the
surplus returning to nourish the bulb for future growth.
