The Wholeness of Time
(SOLD) but happy to take commissions

Maltese limestone. 500mm x 500mm 700mm tall.

What inspired me to carve this apple was the theme of 'time'. Titled, "the Wholeness of Time" it is a message of hope. Initially I was going to slice it, each slice representing a chapter in the past with pips representing our knowledge, learning and experience, the unsliced apple representing the future yet to come. However, during the process of carving I realised that far from wanting to portray a future that simply runs out, reaching a point when only one slice remains, a more uplifting message was to see time as always 'whole', with past, present and future impacting and influencing each other with the future always new and whole each day. The pips of wisdom and learning are inside the 'core of time' as a source of infinite growth and understanding, no time is wasted as each chapter of life becomes a catalyst of change or further growth and makes us who we are. In that case, whatever age you are, whatever disappointments or difficulties you may be encountering at any given time, there is always hope. Even after a person dies, others are inspired & influenced to nurture something of what that individual has taught us so the wholeness of time never ends.
Hand carved in Maltese Limestone with a reclaimed wood stalk, it weighs quarter of a ton and measures 500mmx500mmx700mm tall. The image was taken in Delamore, Cornwood, Devon in a large Sculpture Exhibition in May this year.
