Seated
Lady (SOLD)
Portland Stone
This carving was based on a life model I did in
clay inspired by a love of Degas and his bathing figures often seen with a towel.
It was one of my earliest pieces and so the chisel work is quite primitive! I
liked the unrefined look of her shapes and curves and so made the decision to
stop carving at an earlier stage than first anticipated to maintain its rawness
and simplicity as detail and the refining process I believe - can sometimes detract
from a piece.
